While shopping recently at Home Depot, I had to use the restroom.
The gentleman who was polishing up the facility asked me, “What's going to happen with the weather?”
I said, “Well, it sounds like its going to get messy. It's been a pretty confusing season so far. Sure wouldn't want to be in the weather forecasting business.”
He moved his bucket and mop to the other side of the room and commented, “Am I getting taller, or is there less snow? When I was a kid it seemed like we got a lot more.”
He was taller than me.
Last week I snapped a photo of my wife catching some rays in the back yard on Christmas Day where, in full sun, it was 60 F. At one temperature reading yesterday morning it was 10 F with a stiff breeze. Fifty degrees is a pretty big difference.
I went from splitting wood in my T-shirt on Christmas day to Arctics and Carhartts for stacking it! It even became necessary to break out my special bald head sleeping cap for the overnight drafts.
During a recent drive around Adam's Pond, the ice was forming almost as I watched, in response to the big temperature drop. Probably won't be the last time we see that happen. I'd run with that on the evening news weather forecast.
